The EP certainly has the whimsy and spectacle of an anime, and it’s clear D’iyi and Sesugh considerthemselves unapologetically creative, too, but there is the sense that this is less about that andmore about honoring that raw energy. There is a theatricality to the music, as if they are donningpersonas and performing bits, paying homage to the many types of people they encounter and the place that produces them. Over 7 diverse tracks, Miscreant Life Vol.1 captures that energy. 

The diversity is anchored by the two rappers, who dictate the flow with their larger-than-life stylesand their flamboyant execution. Some of that performance is at the expense of more personalsongwriting. There’s nothing as reflective as their singles Tokumbo, and Kenyan Girls. The mix ofrapping, toasting and singing that communicates more of their individual identities. The EP fromMiscreants FM founders D’iyi and Sesugh capture the inexhaustible magic of Young adulting inmodern Africa.
